Batch controllers

General Information

Introduction

The product group "Batch Controllers" offers multiple batch controllers in the N-Series, F-Series and D-Series product ranges. The batch controllers can be used for accurate dispensing of small amounts of liquids up to the loading of trucks with two-stage control and analog multi-stage control.

Specially designed for the delivery of unknown quantities of product is the delivery controller which can be used for all kinds of products like gasoline, oil and windshield fluid.

The functionality of this product group is based on three product series:

  • N-Series: these products offer a full numerical keypad, are supplied in a DIN panel mount enclosure and are only suitable for safe area applications. The N-Series are the result of combining our knowledge of batch control operations and our customer focus on operators and users. As a result, the N-Series has been developed as a batch controller, focussed on your convenience. This is our top range batch controllers, the N413 is available with receipt printing functionality.
  • F-Series: this product range is supplied in a robust IP67 (NEMA Type4X) field mount enclosure and suitable for safe and hazardous area applications. The F-Series have been certified according ATEX and IECEx by DEKRA and according CSA C-US and FM for use in Intrinsically Safe applications. The F-Series is resistant to harsh weather conditions (rain, snow, salty atmospheres, temperatures between -40°C/-40°F and +80°C/+178°F) without use of expensive protective cabinets.
  • D-Series: these products are supplied in a unique DIN panel mount enclosure and is only suitable for safe area applications. The robust IP66, IP67 (NEMA Type4X) front enclosure is made of die cast aluminum and is unequaled by any panel mounted indicator in the market: The D-Series is able to withstand total immersion and even powerful water jets! Easy menu structure

The F-, D- and N-Series are outstanding user-friendly. No configuration with complicated hardware changes or actions! Instead, each product offers the same simple, logical menu-driven structure. Each setting is clearly indicated with an alphanumerical description, without confusing abbreviations and difficult codes. Once familiar with a Fluidwell product, you can program ALL models in ALL series without need for a manual: Know one, know them all!

The F-Series and D-Series have so many different combination possibilities for sensor in- and outputs, power and sensor supplies, communication and external inputs, that Fluidwell is able to produce no less than 200,000 different versions! With this variety of combinations, there is always a D- or F-Series that meets your technical requirements. For an explanation of the various options, please read the section detailing the F-Series, D-Series or the N-Series products.

Signal input type More >>

Most batch controllers of the N-, F- and D-Series, have three basic signal input types are available:

  • Pulse signals: sine wave (coil) low sensitivity (80mVp-p), sine wave high sensitivity (20mVp-p), Namur, NPN, PNP, reed-switch or active pulses. For most signals a low pass filter can be enabled to ignore pulse bounce. The sine wave input can even be supplied with 10mV or 5mVp-p sensitivity (option ZF and ZG).
  • Analog signal: (0)4 – 20mA or 4 – 20mA input loop powered version. The input signal can be tuned within this range (e.g. from 4.0mA to 10.0mA). To avoid counting at minimum signal, a low cut-off filter is available.
  • Analog signal: 0 – 10V DC. The input signal can be tuned within this range (e.g. from 2.0 to 5.0V DC). A low cut-off filter is available here too, to avoid counting at minimum signal.

Two power options are available to power the N-Series and sensor. An 110 - 230V AC and a 24V DC power supply. Both offer an 8.2, 12 or 24V DC sensor supply to power the sensor.

Operator information and functions More >>

The following features are available on all batch controller models. Further product features can be found in the specific product datasheet.

  • Clear operator information is a key feature of these products. Essential information is displayed as clear text (e.g. "Press start") and not as mysterious abbreviations.
  • The dedicated display shows two lines of information simultaneously along with textlabels like "preset", "actual" or "accumulated total" so the operator understands the displayed information.
  • The preset value and the actual value during the batch process is displayed with its engineering unit. The following units can be selected through software: ml, L, m³, GAL, USGAL, kg, lb, bbl or no unit.
  • Entering the preset value is a basic function, understandable for every operator. The N-Series has an easy to operate numerical keypad, it's the perfect fit for applications where the batch size needs to change often. For repeatable batches it is not required to re-enter the preset value, simply press start.
  • During batching, the displayed actual value can count up to display the batch quantity or count down to display the remaining quantity.
  • The active self learning overrun correction compensates the slowness of the control valve as well as unstable line pressure due to a decreasing stock level; a repeating and accurate batch quantity is the result.
  • A resettable totalizer is displayed with seven digits.
  • A non-resettable accumulated total is displayed with eleven digits and uses the same measuring unit as total and preset value.
  • With the minimum and maximum preset values, the operator can be protected against incorrect entry of a batch size.
