Success story: Stacked dP flow

Contraction-based flow meters, like Orifice, Venturi, or Cone meters, generate a differential pressure signal that rises quadratically with increasing flow. Consequently, the flow meter’s range is limited to the square root of the dP sensor’s range. Additionally, measurement accuracy tends to decrease at the lower end of the flow range.

Stacked Dp flow

Implementing multiple differential pressure (dP) sensors in a stacked (split-range) configuration is a method to significantly extend the measurement range while enhancing accuracy at the lower end of the flow range.

Turn down ratio:
Each type of flowmeter has its own measurement range which is often described as turn down ratio. It is the relationship between maximum and minimum flow of the flowmeter: 10:1 means the minimum flow is 10% of the maximum flow.

C5-Series:

The C5-series flow computers can handle dual and triple stacked sensors to increase the rangeability and turndown ratio. This enhances the accuracy of mass and volumetric flow measurements and expands the range of applications for which they can be used.
