The F170 Level Monitor and F173 Level Monitor have 2 new output features available;
- A clear alarm output function e.g. to silence an acoustic alarm.
- Each alarm output can be activated in setup mode to test the wiring or performance of the alarm output.
Clear alarm outputs
When an alarm is activated, any relay output that is configured to transmit that alarm status, will be activated. Sometimes, it is required to be able to silence the relay output but keep the alarm status. For this purpose, the ‘clear outputs’ function is introduced. Any relay output that has this function enabled will be disabled when the clear outputs action is executed. When a new alarm status occurs (e.g. a second alarm arises or the same alarm is triggered again) the relay output will be activated again.
The clear outputs action is executed at operator level, when level, height or percentage is shown, by pressing the CLEAR-key when an alarm status is present. The display will show a blinking text ‘CLEAR RELAYS’. When the operator presses the CLEAR-key again, the enabled alarm outputs will be cleared. When any other key is pressed or no key is pressed for 20 seconds, the display will return to normal operating mode without clearing the alarm outputs.
This procedure is equal to the ‘CLEAR TOTAL’ procedure in some of our flow rate indicators / totalizers. Note that there is no external contact available to clear the outputs (option IB is not available).
To clear the outputs by means of Modbus communication, an additional command is added to the command register.
Alarm output test
To be able to test the wiring and performance of the alarm output / mechanical relays, a test mode introduced.
The test mode is enabled by selecting any other value than ‘disabled’ for in setup-menu 9.5: RELAYTST.
When enabled, the normal behavior of the relays is overruled and only the selected output is activated. When ‘all off’ is selected, all outputs are de-activated.
The test mode can be left by simply selecting ‘disabled’, after which the normal function of the relay outputs is resumed. For extra protection, the test mode will also be disabled automatically when the unit returns to operator level or when the unit is restarted.
